On May 31, 2016, Research Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak republic announced two calls for proposals. The first one is a call to support industrial research and development centers in the areas of specialization RIS3 SK. This call was canceled on 18th May 2016 due to changes in project selection criteria. The aim of the call for proposals is to support research consortia between industries and academic institutions which undertake research and development to business needs. Deadline for submission of the first evaluation round is 30 June 2016. Duration of a project is 36 - 72 months. Grant support/project is at least € 1 million and a maximum of € 7 million. The total allocation for the call is € 200 million. Projects must be linked to the priorities of the Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialization of the Slovak Republic.
The second announced call is a call to support long-term strategic research and development in the areas of specialization RIS3 SK. The aim of the call is to support larger consortia between the academic and business sectors that will implement joint collaborative research and development of national importance. These are long-term projects with a duration of 4-7 years, and the projects have to include the capacity of university science parks and research centers that were supported in the programming period 2007 to 2013 from the Operational Programme Research and Development. Deadline for submission of the first evaluation round is 31 August 2016. Duration of a project is from 48 to 84 months. Grant support/project is at least € 10 million and a maximum of € 20 million. The total allocation for the call is € 218 million. Projects must be linked to the strategic objectives of the Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialization of the Slovak Republic.
