On April 19, 2016, the kick off meeting of the Research Center of advanced materials and technologies for current and future applications - PROMATECH was held in Košice.
The center was built from EU structural funds under the Operational Programme Research and Development. The total costs of the centre are more than 22 million euros and the centre is located in Košice and Žiar nad Hronom.
The president of the Slovak Academy of Sciences Mr. Pavol Šajgalík opened the meeting and he highlighted the interconnectedness of centre´s research with the needs of industry. Prof. Ján Dusza (head of the centre) presented the structure of the centre. Kick off meeting was also attended by representatives of similar centers abroad - prof. Marek Przybylski (Krakov), prof. János Szépvolgyi and prof. László Nádai (both from Budapest). In the end of the kick off meeting, a council meeting of the research centre was held.
Under the project Research Center of advanced materials and technologies for current and future applications "PROMATECH" were built: Pavilion of material sciences of Slovak Academy of Sciences in Košice, Technology Pavilion of the Institute of Materials and Machine Mechanics of SAS in Ziar nad Hronom, 89 new advanced equipment were purchased and 34 laboratories of SAS in Košice were modernized. Seven laboratories of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University were upgraded also. The partners of the project are four institutes of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University and Technical University of Kosice.
