A recent comment of the Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic Mr. Peter Plavčan points out that funding for Slovak science is guaranteed. A priority of the Ministry is to create appropriate conditions for the work of Slovak scientists. The Ministry will also give a greater emphasis on quality of research at universities. More precise indicators for assessing the quality of science are introduced and universities with better research received more money this year. According to the proposed amendments to the Higher Education Act, the system of university funding will be changed. Better universities should get more. Greater emphasis will be given to the quality of scientific research. Top priority will be cutting-edge research of international importance.
