The most detailed assessment of 54 institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences for the years 2010-2014 has been successfully completed. In these days, the Academy published a publication that clearly maps the progress and results of the evaluation. A new method was used by the evaluation – foreign experts assessed the professional activities within individual specialization as well in relation to the current international level of the individual field of specialization. Work of Czech academics were rated by more than 1,400 experts from 50 countries, especially those from Germany, USA and France.
The basic objective of the project was to obtain detailed information for the strategic managing of the Academy as a whole and for the management of individual research units also. Similarly in Slovakia, a pilot evaluation of the institutes of Slovak Academy of Sciences by panel of internationally recognized experts has begun this year. The results of this process will enable more targeted funding of Slovak science.
