The European Commission has launched a public call for candidacies for membership in the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies (EGE). The Commission decided to renew the mandate of the EGE as an independent advisory body - stakeholders have confirmed that ethical questions need a dedicated group at the highest level. The EGE will consist of up to 15 members who are experts in natural and social sciences and humanities. The call for expression of interest in membership of the EGE closes on 26 June 2016. The candidates must have at least 10 years professional experience. They should also have documented experience in an ethics advisory board or equivalent experience in ethical analysis. An excellent oral and written knowledge of the English language is required. Ideal candidates should have experience in providing ethical, scientific or other advice to policy, at national, European or international levels and an understanding of the European policy context.
