Chairman of the Slovak Academy of Sciences asked selected sectors and business associations for nomination of experts to working groups for specific research specializations of Slovak Republic.
On November 13, 2013, Slovak Government approved the document “Knowledge to prosperity – Research and innovation strategy for smart specialization of the Slovak Republic” that has defined five areas of specializations in terms of available scientific and research capacity:
1. material sciences and nanotechnology,
2. information and communication technology,
3. biotechnology and biomedicine,
4. agriculture and the environment, including advanced chemical technologies that protect the environment,
5. sustainable energy and energy.
Currently, Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic establishes a working group for each of the above mentioned areas whose members should be renowned specialists who have extensive experience in the concrete field. SAS Chairman, Mr. Pavol Šajgalík is responsible for formation of candidates for members of each working group.
Working groups shall consist of max. 14 members - representatives of the state sector, the public sector (government research institutions) and private sector built on the principle of partnership between public and private spheres in the ratio 50:50. The proposed candidate will be not automatically a member of the working group. Candidates for membership in the working groups will be selected and the final list of members will be approved by the Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport of Slovak Republic and the minister will appoint selected experts as members of the particular workgroup.
Due to the nature of working groups, it is not recommended to nominate candidates that occupy a similar post in the structure of implementation of RIS3 SK - members of the Government Council for Science, Technology and Innovation; or currently creating Council of Research agency.
The selected sectors and business associations must send the nominations to August 14, 2015.
